“Families of Faith: Concern and Hope”

Zoom Gathering, January 25, 2024, at 9:00 am Mountain

“How is Christian faith shared from one generation to the next? What help does the local church provide?” 17 Canadian ministry organizations and denominations partnered with EFC’s Centre for Research on Church and Faith to help answer such questions. They published a report entitled Parenting Faith. It identifies cultural influences and parental priorities that shape how the next generation adopts or rejects beliefs and faith-related behaviours. One leader stated, “We all observed children and young people seem to be leaving the Church more than they are staying.”

“How do we help evangelical parents form the faith of (or disciple) their children in the home?” This is an urgent question. EFC researcher Lindsay Callaway will address some key themes in parenting approaches – mainly that parents today are departing from the generations before them and see faith choices and exposure to other religions as non-negotiable aspects of faith formation. She’ll also address the role local churches play or don’t play in family faith life.
