MAiD on the basis of Mental Illness

1 min read

You’re invited to a 30-minute public policy briefing for EFC affiliates by EFC staff on August 21 at 12:30 p.m. EDT | 10:30 a.m. MT.

We will update you on the coming expansion of Canada’s euthanasia regime that will allow MAiD on the basis of mental illness, slated to take effect on March 17, 2027.

Some of the topics we’ll cover include:

  • How the MAiD law has changed and what’s ahead
  • Concerns with MAiD for mental illness
  • A new bill that would stop MAiD for mental illness

This briefing will include a short presentation on what’s happening, why it matters, and how you can respond, followed by time for Q & A. Our goal is to equip you with up-to-date, accurate information and resources that you can share with your network.

We will send a link for the Zoom meeting to this list of affiliates the day before the presentation.

If you are unable to attend the policy briefing, please feel free to ask someone else in your organization to attend, as this meeting will not be recorded. You will need to forward the link to them.

Also, please save the date for a day of prayer and online prayer gathering on MAiD for mental illness on September 17 at 11 a.m. (EDT). Your churches, staff and congregants are welcome to join in this time of corporate prayer. Details to follow.

We are thankful for your partnership in the gospel.

Sincerely,

Julia Beazley
